Carol Naylor - Director
T.E.A.C.H., Inc. received non-profit status in 1979. T.E.A.C.H., Inc. provides fiscal oversight and is the
umbrella agency for numerous programs within Siskiyou and Modoc counties. The Tulelake/Newell Family
Resource Center (T/N FRC), a division of T.E.A.C.H., Inc., began providing services in Tulelake and the
surrounding area in April 1997. Since it’s inception we have provided a variety of health, educational and
basic support services to children, youth and adult residents living in Tulelake. Our literacy based programs
Even Start / Migrant Even Start, have been our primary programs for several years, but our Even Start
program will be ending in June 2006. Currently we are in transition, as the T/N FRC is relocating to the
“Honker” (Tulelake’s youth and community center). While there will be staff and position changes, the
T/N FRC will still include the positions of director, site manager, family educator, and other program staff.
The exact number of staff is not known at this time, but scheduling will ensure that our facility is open daily
from 8-5 and through the lunch hour. Family Center staff are extensively trained and highly qualified with
most staff being totally English/Spanish bilingual. The T/N FRC is open year around Monday-Friday 8-5pm
as well as lunchtime. When the center is closed, detailed voice messages are left to help direct those in
crisis situations receive the assistance they may need. T.E.A.C.H. receives guidance from a board of
directors consisting of seven members. The T/N FRC advisory committee and our local MHSA taskforce
committee are one in the same. It is likely that there will be additions to the existing advisory committee when
we begin operating from our new location at the “Honker”. The T/N FRC staff is very proficient at data
collection protocols and has been very successful at implementing a variety of diverse grants over the
past eight years.
